ROYAL RUNNERS OPEN 2010 FALL SPORTS SEASON
Schroyer wins medal with 5th place finish (8/28)
Matthew Schroyer and Caleb Westerfield were two of the 96 junior high runners in the Celina Rotary Invitational held at the Wright State Lake Campus over the weekend. Schroyer ran his best time ever at 12:31 earning him a nice birthday gift with a 5th place medal. Westerfield finished the race in 18:23. Keep up the good work, guys!
Schroyer wins race; Westerfield makes big improvement in second meet (8/26)
In the second cross country race of the year (a late addition in St. Marys), Matthew Schroyer finished in first place with a time of 12:51. Schroyer cut 13 seconds off of his first meet time and besides finishing in first place, he also achieved an early goal of breaking 13 minutes! Caleb Westerfield made a huge improvement by cutting nearly two minutes off his time finishing in 17:29. Great job Matthew and Caleb! Coach Julie Schroyer, Matthew, and Caleb will participate in the Celina Rotary Invitational tomorrow morning at Wright St. Lake Campus!
Schroyer finishes in second place in first meet of year (8/24)
Holy Rosary Cross Country kicked off the 2010 campaign running in the St. Marys race last evening. Matthew Schroyer and Caleb Westerfield are the two runners representing the Royals this fall. Schroyer, who made tremendous improvements last fall, opened up the year with an outstanding 2nd place finish in the race with a time of 13:04, which is a personal best for Matthew. Although running in his first career race and battling some sinus problems of late, Westerfield completed the course in a time of 19:13, which is much better than the times he had been completing in practice.
Congratulations to both Matthew and Caleb, who are being coached by Julie Schroyer!
They will join the McBroom runners again tomorrow night (Thursday) in a small meet before the big Celina Rotary Invitational at the Lake Campus this Saturday morning!
